The origins of the City of Kyle date back to 1880, when settlers from the neighboring communities of Blanco and Mountain City founded the town. Fergus Kyle, after whom the town was named, along with David Moore’s family, generously donated 200 acres of land to the townsite when the International and Great Northern Railroad built a line from Austin to San Antonio. In October 1880, the first lots were sold in an auction held under a Live Oak tree at 204 Sledge Street, marking the start of Kyle’s rich history and traditions. Today, Kyle is a thriving community and home to thousands of people. Located just eight miles north of San Marcos and 20 miles south of Austin, it is the second largest city in Hays County. Kyle is strategically situated approximately 60 miles north of San Antonio, 200 miles west of Houston, and 250 miles south of Dallas, offering easy access to major population centers in Texas. With its convenient location close to major highways, airports, and rail, Kyle is an ideal community for both living and doing business.
